We’ve had a whale of a tale of a time trying to think outside the box for topics that would be salient, relevant but still, idk, fun??? When a recent Leandre Cohen newsletter came across our inboxes talking about dinner-wear, a wee spark ignited at the outfit repeaters HQ. Because let’s be real, we’re not attending galas, we’re probs not dressing up for the quickie milk run, we’re not really in the going-out-on-the-town-until-2am phase (AB is someone’s mother!!!!!), but we are in the getting-dressed-up-to-get-dinner era of our lives—and probably getting dressed up for everyone and their second cousin’s wedding, but that’s a how-to for another time.
So, WTF Are We Wearing to Dinner?
CM: Going out to dinner is genuinely my favorite hobby. If I could list it on my resume, I really really would. As you know, I’m rarely seen outside my domestic domain thanks to my regulah 9-5 grind. As such, dinner is a whole ass event in my household. I love the scene from top to bottom—making the resy, pre-scanning the menu, getting ready like I used to for my college GNOs. I get that I’m just talking about dinner, but still, it’s not like I’m invited to the Grammy’s okay???
AB: But, it is Grammys small town MT, I mean it's a spectacle anymore these days. You most likely will see people you know, and if you don’t, they’re going to want to know you!! I mean look at you in your stunna outfit. WHO IS SHE!? At least that's what I said to myself in the mirror when I left the house. ;)

CM: Right now, it’s chilly-willy but like 40-50 degrees during the day? Which means that when I leave the house it’s actually cold outside, but it kind of felt warm earlier, which kind of makes me feel like it could be spring (or, dare I say, summer). My FAVE outfit of all time ever for a dinner on the town is a little upscale meets casual. I love a top + jean situationship (these barrel jeans are my current hyperfixation) with a stellar shoe. The more unique the top, the better—because the jeans aren’t going to do the talking, the top is!

AB: Daring to say summer is some serious wishful thinking fam. However, I am loving these looks CM! Keep em’ coming! I will flip the script a little going shorter on bottom and staying long on top. The season is currently fake spring. Winter will reveal its cold face at least one more time right? It always does! One more rude and daring time before spring really hits. Therefore we have to savor our statement jacket era a little longer. Not too heavy of course, these are our light jackets after all, but also warm enough that when the sun goes down we aren't committed to freezing like we were on the aforementioned GNO in college. However, we want to flirt with spring. Coaxing her into coming earlier is always the hope. So throw in a shorter hemline, add the pop of color, roll up that sleeve!!

CM: Alternatively, I love a skirt and a simple top moment. And I know this is arguably cliché, but a dress. Like one of those I-feel-so-hot-in-hurrrrr kinda dresses. I’ve gathered outfit inspo so I can try and paint a picture of the vibe I’m talking about.
Honorable Mentions
CM: Dinner is my dress-up day and I will NOT be demure, I will NOT be mindful, I want all the humans in this lil’ Montana restaurant to be like “who tf dresses up like that for dinner”. I snagged this butter yellow vintage Victoria’s Secret dress off depop for $23 and a BOMB vintage red leather jacket from the 80s. I’m seeing visions of tall boots, a slicked back bun, chunky gold earrings, catch me…I’m swooning.
AB: Funny you mention it! I wore a v similar formula to date night this week!

CM: Gosh I love it when we’re in-sync (not to be confused with NSYNC).
Deep Cuts
CM: Gua Sha is one of the only things I’m thinking about. My Roman empire if you will. Tryna be sculpted af in 2025.
AB: As always in alignment with CM I am on a new skin care journey that includes retinol. If you know you know, and you have to extra protect the skin. My go to SPF is this holy grail in a stick.
AB: Also on that note, red light therapy. Period.
CM: Have I shared this yet? I love this look. Like what a summer vibe.
CM: Speaking of scarves…they’ve changed me.
AB: A perfect transition into spring. The roads are clean enough for heels and we’re almost ready for shorts.
Before You Go
CM: Happy spring you little tulips!!
AB: Summer hates to see us coming!
Hope you have the best dinner date. Ciao for now. xx
Very OR! Very Spring! <3
