Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, midi boots and cashmere, and warm woolen mittens. These are a few of our favorite fall things!!!! This one is going to be link heavy so get ready for every recommendation you need, and ones you didn't till you opened them!
Someone call Julie Andrews
AB: Hello lovely readers and welcome back. This week I want to send out a public service announcement of why we started this newsletter. We are a year in! It has fulfilled CM and I in ways we cannot explain and we have you to thank for that. I want to remind everyone what OR means to me. As fashion enthusiasts we have the challenge of battling an industry we so desperately love for the sake of being creative and making art, and the dark cloud of consumerism. You know the part where it's hurting humans, the planet and overall morale. Though we recommend so many things week after week the idea is not to make you feel like you must go out and buy it immediately, but to hopefully spark inspiration. Not even I buy the things I lust over. I believe the real power of fashion is the strong connection it can make to those around us. I read a ton of newsletters like this (even ones I don’t really like) because no matter what, I can always take something away from it. Maybe you do buy the new thing and love it immensely!! Or maybe something reminds you of that item in the back of your closet that can be reimagined. Whatever it is I hope we continue to connect and bring inspiration through the things that inspire us week after week. I think being open to all the possibilities is the best part. So dear readers, here's our fall favorites!
CM: Literally, same. I can’t believe it’s been a full year of OR, we may be little but DAYUM we are mighty. I have fallen off the face of the planet in the last month and AB has been there every step of the way ready to jump back into all things outfit repeaters when the time comes, for that I am also endlessly grateful. So, with that, we are BACK BABY and coming with an armful of fall reccos.
AB: Starting strong; I need these boots IMMEDIATELY. I mean can you imagine the sock display on these? This is function and fashion baby. But! If not, I’ll settle for a pair from Proenza x Sorel (:
CM: I love shoes, I really do. I want these (also available in chocolate, yum) after seeing this outfit Matilda Djerf was sporting. The longer silver shoes are on other people’s feet, the more I want them—these are extra chic. Also if you aren’t already in a Mary Jane, it’s time. Go bold, dare you.
AB: IT'S CASHMERE SEASON!!! You guessed it, I am still a sucker for all things Guest in Residence. Maybe their impeccable styling is the hook-line-sinker here, but their colors are obvious in a smart way! If it were me I’d go for the coziest, holiday perfect, pair of pants and a classic cardigan in cobalt or red!
CM: It really is!!! I may (or may not, but totally did), score some really quality cashmere pieces from Aritzia that I have *genuinely* been wearing non-stop and am also obsessed with. This cutie cardigan—suddenly, I looked up and all I wear is cardigans now???—I did size up for a little less crop and optimum cuteness. This STUNNING blue sweater weather sweater, also sized up for optimum cozy-cozy (yes, that is the formal terminology of cozy).
AB: Also peak suede season tbh. I am talking belts, boots (on sale!), and blazers! Say that five times fast. Does anyone remember saying bloody mary in the mirror as a kid? Could the same thing happen if we shout for belts, boots, and blazers??
CM: Okay, don’t judge me but I hate suede UNLESS it’s a bag. TBH I live in Montana and suede does not mix with water, which means I get about two wears out of a suede boot before I have to pack her away until summer and then I’m just hot at this point. All to say, I have been rocking (and I really mean and rolling) a black suede Rebecca Minkoff bag for the better half of five years. My cutie patootie bag is definitely not in her best shape, but honestly the fold-y, flapping, edgy, messy situation is giving Jane Birkin-overstuffs-her-Birkin-vibes, if you catch my drift. My style of bag is obvi out of commission (RIP), but I picked a few faves that have all the fall suede feels. This mocha caryall is *chefs kiss* OR get her in green, ugh. All the folding, effortless, messiness is right here in this bag if you’re looking for it. OR opt for a bucket bag and a secondhand steal of a deal.
AB: Kacey GD Musgraves and Reformation. FULL STOP. My favorite pieces from the collection are the, ope you guessed it, suede lace up boots, the romantic silk dress in crimson, and a rather simple yet perfectly made mini skirt, that to me is a no brainer closet staple. How about you CM, what did you think of the collection?
CM: KACEY GD MUSGRAVES AND REFORMATION. FULL STOP. It’s so good. It’s giving English Countryside meets Tennessee? I don’t even know. There are headscarves. HEADSCARVES. Faves are as follows, red cashmere mini dress (mini people!!!!!!!) that are styled so deliriously well that I could cry. A fur jacket that I needed yesterday. This silk top that is so beautiful I would voluntarily wear every day for the rest of my life. And last, but never least, the mini skirt of all mini skirts.
Honorable Mentions
AB: Carolyn Basset Kennedy step aside, your man JFK Jr. is killing it. His fall styling is something worth studying. His effortless outfit combos is the laid back chic we all try to accomplish.
AB: Continuing with a level up of casual dressing at Bottega S/S 2025. Michelle Yeoh arrived in the most amazing textured button down and it is what fall season dreams are made of. It’s giving the iconic moment when Kate Moss walked down the runway a few seasons back in the viral laid back flannel.

CM: Apparently my fall wardrobe is only going to be mini skirts, which is honestly giving Gossip Girl and I’m not mad about it. Plus, the style inspo is OFF THE CHARTS—Ella, Lucy, Matilda (again).
AB: After a photoshoot I am greatly inspired by leather gloves and what it can do for a look. Paint a picture in your beautiful minds of a sleek leather glove, peaking out of an epic winter coat, holding the most beautiful contrasting handbag. It does something to ya. I took home this cognac pair that could make a valuable asset to any bag. Would also like to mention a much more dramatic pair from Phoebe Philo that's mega glamour.
CM: My honorable mention is this coat that I also snagged from Aritzia. I’m the queen of coats, and this one is everything you want in a quality wool winter layer, but like a quarter of the price.
Deep Cuts
AB: Browns are here to stay, example here. What I love about this look is that it is a beautiful combination of the most yummy rich fall colors.
CM: Matching. Mini. Skirt. Sets. That’s it, that’s the tweet.
CM: Also, I saw this and I want to emulate this all holiday season long (I know, I know jump scare to holiday talk).
AB: CM that's SO good. I know you have the shoes and the tights, but that Miu Miu dress is $6,800, and currently off the market. I did find this one however that might do the trick!
AB: Unrelated to anything but let’s normalize flowers everywhere in the home, not just on the table. Here is a beautiful autumn display in a SHOWER! It's amazing. Right now I am just hanging eucalyptus, but it still gives me the best feeling, and if it's not cozy this season I don't want it.
AB: Continuing in the home with these adorable brown tortoise shell drinking glasses. I’ll take 6. Found a martini glass version as well. I am loving!
Before You Go
CM: Hey, thanks for sticking with us through this busy season. We deeply appreciate you!
AB: And deeply appreciate each other! <3
Happy Fall, y’all! Ciao for now. xx
